Robbins Remains Positive; Comes Home 10th At Opp
Luck is something drivers want on their side when they get to the track, but it isn’t something Hunter Robbins has had much of this season.  In many races, Robbins is right there ready to drive in to victory lane, only to have a great finish ripped from his grip.

Robbins headed to South Alabama Speedway (Opp, AL) for the 125-lap Super Late Model race hoping to turn things around, but bad luck struck the team even before they got to the track.
“It is almost like we have a big ole’ monkey on our back and we haven’t figured out how to shake him yet,” said Robbins.  “This summer we have had a series of bad luck incidents from our motor to even our hauler breaking down this weekend a mile from the track.”

Keeping his spirits up, the team got a tow to the track so they could compete in the race.  Unfortunately for Robbins, a bad draw in qualifying forced him to start 16th in the field.  But he made the best of a bad day by not giving up, giving him a top-10 finish.

“We had to go out early in qualifying so that kind of put us back in the pack a little bit,” said Robbins.  “For the race we didn’t quite get the car where we wanted it.  We thought we had a good car in the long runs but it started going away from us.  We worked our way up to sixth but then the drivers with fresher tires ended up getting back by us.  By the time we got our tires we had already went a lap down.  There was a long green flag run and everybody got spread out.

“We came back and got as many positions as we could without getting in any wrecks.  We ended up 10th, which wasn’t too bad considering our day.  I really have to thank my team and especially all my sponsors for their support.  Victory Circle Communications also came on board with us and we look forward to turning our season around with their support.”

Robbins will take this weekend off, but will return to race at South Alabama Speedway in Opp, Alabama in his Pro Late Model on Saturday, August 11th.
