Hunter Robbins Uses Nashville As Snowball Warmup
Top-15 In All American Leaves Youngest Wanting Guitar
Hunter Robbins may be just 16-years-old, but he understands the importance of history. When heading to the All American 400 this past weekend, he knew he really wanted that famous guitar that goes to the winner.
After the weekend, he didn’t quite get the guitar, but he was able to take his experience and his 14th-place finish and put it to good use for another major race he has planned at the end of the year, the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida.
“I guess lap wise it was a good warmup for the Snowball Derby,” said Robbins. “I ran 400 laps today and the Snowball isn’t but 300. Maybe I will be ready for that race, but I want one of those guitars real bad. Hopefully next year we can come here and get us one.”
Robbins qualified 27th and was forced to race in the 100-lap Blue-Gray 100 “last chance event,” to make the starting field. After finishing third in that 100-lap affair and starting the feature in 28th,
Robbins was able to keep his car out of trouble through multiple cautions and come home with a top-15 run.
“Right there at the beginning of the race the car was pretty good,” said Robbins. “After we came in for our first pit stop, the right front tire went flat. We had to come in under green and we lost three laps. We were able to put on tires and go back out. We made up one of our laps and almost got another other one, but everyone else got new tires there and we didn’t, so we had to settle for what we had and hold on at the end.”
Robbins will now head to Pensacola, Florida for the 40th running of the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway. That race is set for December 2nd.
Robbins races his #18 at Nashville on Sunday.
