Hunter Robbins Starts and Finishes 11th at SpeedFest
The Laps In Between Are Anything But Boring Though
Hunter Robbins started in the 11th position for the Super Late Model portion of SpeedFest 2008.  He finished in 11th as well.  But the 200 laps in between start and finish were anything but uneventful for this young driver.
“Right there at the beginning of the race the car was real good,” said Robbins.  “I was passing a few people and I actually got in the back of the 11 car [of David Rodgers] and turned him around.  The officials put us to the back and we were working our way back towards the front and the car was real good.

"It was handling so much better than it did on Friday, and then they had another caution and people pitted and we stayed out.  We got pushed back a little bit on the next green-flag run but then we started catching on and moving back up towards the front.”

That march back to the front was interrupted by a 17-car wreck in turn one just past the halfway point though.

“We just got in that big wreck and one of the guys hit us and it hurt something in the front end of the car and knocked the toe out a lot.  We tried to fix it as best we could, but the car just wasn’t the same after that.  It was just real tight in the middle, so we just had to ride it out until the finish.

“The beginning of the race the car was just excellent.  We would have had a top-five for sure.  Really the whole weekend we had been struggling with the car, trying to get the car better.  In practice yesterday we realized we had some stuff bent in the front end and some other stuff wasn’t right.  We got all that fixed.  Once we got in the wreck, it just wasn’t the same old car we had all weekend.  After that we couldn’t do anything with it.”
