Hunter Robbins Scores Two Top-10 Finishes In Weekend Double
Young Racer Getting Seat Time On Pro Cup Off Weekend
This year, Hunter Robbins is focused on racing in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series, however there are many weekends when the Pro Cup Series is not racing on the track. This past weekend was one example as Hunter Robbins headed to Florida and Alabama for two Super Late Model feature events. In both races, Robbins ran up towards the front, netting him two solid top-10 finishes.

First up was the Blizzard Series Super Late Model 100-lap feature at Five Flags Speedway (FL). On a track that is known to be abrasive on tires, Robbins paced himself throughout the race, putting the pressure on late to claim third at the checkered flag.
“At the start of the race our car was good,” said Robbins. “I rode for a while, but I started getting worried there at the end because our car wasn’t too good and a lot of people had taken their tires. The laps were winding down and I was praying for another caution. Luckily the caution came out and we came in to get our tires. Our car was pretty good after that. We gained as many positions as we could, then our car started going away again.
“We weren’t perfect tonight. We know we have room for improvement, but I qualified a lot better than I have in the past so I know we are making improvements. It is still a win for us. The car is in one piece and we can go to Mobile tomorrow.”
Robbins made the hour trip west on Saturday to Mobile International Speedway (AL) for the Miller Lite Series Super Late Model 100-lap feature. Pit strategy and an incident with another car kept him out of victory lane, but he still managed to battle back to seventh.
“We were just trying to be patient and wait for the right time to come in,” explained Robbins. “We knew we had to make adjustments. After we came out from the pits the car was good. I was coming back up through the field and I had a lapped car cut us off a little bit. It bent something in the right front suspension and killed my center speed. I just had to deal with what I had from there and ride it out.”
After closing out the weekend with two strong runs, Robbins is now focused on getting ready for the April 26th USAR Pro Cup Series South race at Concord Motorsport Park (NC).
“We are going to go back to the shop and get that Pro Cup car ready. That is our main focus. We ran here for fun and experience. There we are running for points.”
