Robbins Overcomes Wreck to Post Top-10 Finish at the Derby
Sour Day Turns Positive after Yeomen’s Work by Crew
Hunter Robbins was hoping to take a trip to victory lane in the 41st Annual Snowball Derby.  The youngster from Shorter, Alabama, has already won other big races at Five Flags Speedway (FL) and was hoping to add the Derby to his list.  After running near the front all day long, Robbins was torn up in a crash with less then 50 laps to go.  The only saving grace for Robbins was that there were only a handful of cars on the lead lap and the crew worked hard to fix the damage and keep Robbins on the lead lap. The hustle kept Robbins in the top 10 for a seventh-place finish.
“We kind of got stuck there with about 50 to go,” said Robbins. “We were a lap down and all the leaders pitted. So we stayed out and gained our lap back, but we couldn’t come in and get tires so we stayed out there on old tires. We made up a bunch of positions and just waited until the next caution to come in and get stickers on it and see what we could do. We struggled with this new car a little bit this weekend, but we’ll get it.”

Robbins knows the way the Derby shakes out and that some cars are going to receive damage.  Luckily for him he had his problem late in the race when there were fewer cars on the lead lap.
“I’ve only been down here three times, but it seems like that’s the way it plays out. You’re going to have your big wrecks.  You’re going to have some good cars taken out and some bad cars that are still there at the end. It’s nice to have a top 10 and all. I was surprised the cars were pretty good out there tonight.  No one really fell off; everybody was pretty good.”
