Hunter Robbins Keeps Rookie Honors Alive With 10th-Place Finish at Mansfield
Over the last few races in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series, Hunter Robbins has had enough luck to propel him to his first victory in the series as well as taking the South division Rookie of the Year honors.  After a short time frame to celebrate, Robbins and his team turned their attention to the four-race championship series in hopes to take the overall championship as well as the overall rookie honors.
Saturday at Mansfield Motorsports Park (OH), Robbins struggled early on to make that goal a reality in the first of the four races, but was able to work his way up to a top-10 finish at the end of the event.

“We were hoping to run a little bit better,” said Robbins.  “When we got there, the car wasn’t quite what we wanted. We struggled to get a good handle on it to get it comfortable for me as well as fast on the track.  It is a tough place to get your line perfect.  If you miss your line just a little bit it shows up pretty big on the stop watch.

“We qualified 18th.  During the race we ran pretty well. We suffered through a few penalties and kept working on the car throughout the race.  Eventually we got it to where I had a top-10 car and ended up finishing 10th.”

With only one other series rookie finishing ahead of him in the race (by only two positions), Robbins now turns his attention to the next race in the championship series at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa on Saturday, September 20th.
“It is going to be fun to get back on a bigger track.  It is close to a mile long and it is big and fast.  Hopefully we will have a pretty good car to take there and hope to come out of there with a top-five finish on our way to obtaining rookie of the year.”
